Wanla Monastery - The Ultimate Escape

Wanla Monastery or Gompa is a medieval Buddhist monastery in Wanla hamlet. The monastery is said to have been built around the year 1000 AD. Lama Rinchen Zangpo, a saint of the time, translated Lord Buddha's teachings into Tibetan which led him to lead the devotees and construct this monastery. Visitors may also see the ruins of a 12th-century castle and a newly erected structure when visiting the monastery, which has many attractions in addition to its holiness and scenic beauty.
