Komic Village in Himachal Pradesh

Komic Village is a beautiful and serene village located in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. The village is situated at a height of about 4,270 metres above sea level and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Komic Village is home to the world’s highest post office and also has the distinction of being the highest inhabited village in Asia.

The villagers here are mostly Tibetan Buddhists and they follow a simple way of life. The main source of income for the people here is agriculture and animal husbandry. Komic Village is also popular for its stunning views of the valley and the neighbouring villages.

Getting to Komic Village is an adventure in itself as the village can only be accessed by a treacherous mountain road. But, the journey is definitely worth it as Komic Village offers visitors a chance to experience true Himalayan hospitality and witness some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of India.

How to Reach Komic Village

Assuming you are starting from Delhi, the best and most convenient way to reach Komic village is by taking a direct flight to Bhuntar airport. From there, you can either take a bus or hire a taxi till Sarahan. Sarahan is approximately 20 km away from Komic village and the only town situated near Komic.

The journey by road from Delhi to Sarahan is quite long and tedious. It takes approximately 12 hours to reach Sarahan from Delhi if you take the route via Chandigarh-Kalka-Shimla-Narkanda-Sarahan.

So, if time permits, we recommend flying down to Bhuntar airport which is located at a distance of around 10 km from Kullu town and then proceeding towards Sarahan by road. This will not only save you time but also give you a break from the long journey.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Komic Village is in the summer, from June to September. The weather is warm and sunny, making it ideal for hiking and exploring the village and its surroundings. There are also a number of festivals and events that take place during this time, so there's plenty to see and do. If you're looking for a quieter trip, autumn (October to November) is also a good time to visit, as the crowds start to thin out and the leaves begin changing color. Winter (December to February) can be cold and snowy, but it's still a beautiful time to be in Komic Village.
