How to Reach Amarnath Temple By Air

 

The journey to the Amarnath Temple is one of a kind and can be experienced by taking a helicopter ride or flight. It starts in Srinagar and ends at the Panjtarni valley. From India, flights operating from different parts of the country reach Srinagar Airport, which is close to the Amarnath temple. It takes roughly three hours to reach Amarnath Temple from Srinagar Airport.

The closest railhead to Amarnath Yatra is the Jammu Tawi Rail Station. Jammu Tawi Railhead is located at a distance of 178 km from Amarnath, and the trek to the temple from there will take around 1 to 2 days. There are several ways to get to Yatra: A helicopter ride, walking on foot, or taking a pony ride directly. The option that's easiest but takes more time is walking from Pahalgam Valley; it's an easier trek to Amarnath, but it takes more time than what you'd need for your Yatra if you start your trek outside of Pahalgam.

 

How to Reach Amarnath Temple By Train

 

You can travel to Jammu by road and then to Srinagar and finally to Baltal or Pahalgam. The shortest trek is to Amarnath at Baltal while a more manageable one is the trek from Pahalgam. Take the Pahalgam trip if you're traveling with family or elders and need a little more time. Amarnath Yatra's walking distance from Baltal is just 15 km and takes about 1-2 days of trekking while from Pahalgam, it will take about 3-5 days on a 36-48 km stretch for a total journey of 5-9 days.
