The Chemrey Monastery is situated in the high-altitude village of Chemrey, just outside the town of Leh in Ladakh, India. Founded in the mid-17th century, The monastery was constructed as a dedication to King Sengge Namgyal, an Affiliate of the Drukpa sect. It has up to 20 monks, two Dukhang or assemblies halls, one Lhakhang or temple, and several shrines for Buddhist scriptures.

The monastery is located at a distance of around 40 kilometers from Leh, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding natural landscapes. It's also the place where the annual Chemrey Angchok, or sacred dance festival, is held on the 18th and 29th days of the 9th month of the Tibetan calendar.
From Leh, you can get to the Chemrey Monastery by taking a 45-kilometer drive from the main city. You can also take a bus or a taxi for shorter distances.
The perfect time to visit Chemrey Monastery is from June until October.
